Surface Pattern Design
Illustration | Surface Pattern Design
Surface Pattern Design is one of my favorite creative industries to work in. You can find products with my artwork on them internationally and across the country, on Amazon, in Nordstrom, Target, TJMaxx, and various boutiques.
Bebe Au Lait
California based Bebe au Lait is a luxury baby goods company that sells internationally on their own website and in Target, Nordstrom, Amazon, and Buy Buy Baby. They also create special collections for TJ Maxx. I worked as the graphic and textile designer from 2018 -2020. I created all of the artwork for their product lines, as well as preparing strike-offs for production, updating packaging design, creating presentations, marketing material, social media content, and product photography.
Certain projects such as internal and external presentations are proprietary information, so I have not shared examples here.
Textile Design
For Bebe au Lait, I created artwork with a signature watercolor look. This consisted of painting the motifs in watercolor and scanning them, and then digitizing the artwork in Adobe Illustrator and reducing the colors from 1000’s to anywhere from 12 to 4. The colors were then converted to Pantone TCX swatches for factory production.
You can find the complete Wyoming collection here.

Lavley
Lavley is a Colorado based novelty goods company that sells on their own website, on Amazon, and in local retail locations. I created artwork for a number of products for them from 2019-2020.
The creative director liked a very cartoony graphic style. Designs were color limited to 4-8 colors due to production requirements. I created the artwork motifs on my iPad, and then transferred them to Adobe Illustrator to make production-ready vector artwork.
Design iterations - sometimes a product goes through many changes from concept to production.
I create the initial artwork on my iPad, then use Illustrator to vectorize and design the final layout.

City Mouse Studio
Seattle based City Mouse Studio creates organic cotton baby and children’s clothing. They sell on their own website, specialty online stores such as Spearmint Love and Mini Apple Tree, and in boutiques around the country. I have been working with them since 2018. I create artwork and textile designs, as well as lace and embroidery designs. I also create linesheet drawings and prepare them with print mockups for the order sheets for seasonal collections.
I design in a specific style for CMS. All prints are color limited from around 3-8 colors. I start by creating the motifs on my iPad, and then transferring them to Illustrator to vectorize, add Pantones, and create the repeat.
Design direction can appear chaotic! However, I’ve been working with Donna for a while and I always understand what she’s instructing me to do. Building rapport with clients is critical to successful design and repeat business.
